So we've all probably played different games other than Animal jam, well, I have! And maybe a few of you have seen people asking to trade items on another game for items on Animal jam. I play a game called Transformice, and often I see people asking 'I'll trade 100 fraises for a yellow long on Animal jam' or 'I'll gift you for a purple long on Animal jam'. But yeah, you get the idea. Sometimes, very uncommonly, people don't take advantage of you and scam. But usually they do. This is how it works:
The person asks, (Let's say a game called Chicken Smoothie) 'I'll trade you some chicken dollars (Chicken Smoothie's currency which costs REAL money) for a red long on Animal Jam'. You say sure and they also inform you saying, 'You go first, I got scammed out of my black long so just in case.' (It's sarcasm, they're lying x3) you say 'ok' and you trade them. The're gonna accept that trade and lock you out (if you're in their den) and block you. Otherwise on Chicken Smoothie, they're not even going to trade you their part of the deal and therefore you get scammed. (But Chicken Smoothie doesn't support offsite trading anyway, so you're pretty much knowing what your doing if someone tries to scam you there.)
How to keep safe from the scam:
You don't see offsite trading often, but you should just ignore it and block the person whoever is doing it so it doesn't tempt you.
If its someone you know in real life, of course its acceptable.
Don't say anything to them, it makes them want to target you more.

Meanwhile, here is some screenshots of offsite trading offers I took while playing Transformice.
Be a jammer not a scammer!
